Preview: Barry's Mod (2019 Edition)
I can still remember Naruto157 (from the original 123 modding forums) who came up with the concept for a mod that allowed you to play as Barry in the original RE1. Now what we have here is a updated and enhanced version of that created by modder Aydan.
It also has the following additions:
===== Resident Evil - Barry's Mod v2.0 Features =====
+ Play As Barry Burton
+ Completely Re-written Story Cutscenes
+ New Character & Monster Textures
+ New Music & Sound Effects
+ Changed Puzzle Solutions
+ Added New Details To Some Rooms
+ Changed Zombie Locations & Attacks
+ New Item Locations
+ Changed Beretta to S.T.A.R.S Custom version
+ New Starting Items
+ Changed Title Screen Details
+ Changed Photos On Item Screen & S.T.A.R.S Cards
+ Files Have Background Images
+ Save Screen Now Shows Barry's Name
+ High Resolution FMV Movie Files
+ Changed Ending Movies
Now as someone who hasn't played any mods in a while, this one has me intrigued as hell, I mean come on playing as Barry Burton the RE universe's answer to Chuck Norris? That's a win in my book. If I do get the time this month, I will play this mod and post a review, for now enjoy the review.
If you would like to try this out yourselves you can download it from here:

Bio Evil aka Blast Processing for the Mega Drive
So since the Sega Mega Drive Mini (or Genesis depending on what part of the pond you come from) finally releases in the UK this Friday, I have decided to cover something that should interest RE fans a lot.
Introducing Bio Evil, a indie developed demake of the original Resident Evil only on the Sega Mega Drive. I have to admit I have watched progress on this with interest and glad it has progressed to where it is so far.
For more info on this game check out the link below:

Modder Profile -Rusty-
What can be said about -Rusty-? He's one of the old school modders who has been modding the classic games way before even the core modding forums was established. Above is his version of Akuma created after the infamous EGM April's Fool joke that he himself was an unlockable character.
Of course way before he even modded the actual RE games -Rusty- himself was doing modding/asset creation for Half Life (yes the original and considered a classic by many who have played it.)
How about one more for good measure? =P this is of course mostly his older work mod wise, below I will cover some of his newest stuff.
Links will be provided below:
What we have here is an assortment of what -Rusty- has provided for the community, these can all be obtained from the following link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/qlr4rzgyx6yhr9y/Rusty_RE2_ClassicStuff.7z/file
You can see a ton of unique mods, ranging from living zombie characters, some even from RE6, 1.5, the N64 exclusive costumes and yes even Distant Memories itself. This is the kind of stuff this community loves to work on and release. He has as a modder produced a lot of custom content for the community to enjoy, and I hope -Rusty- will continue to produce said content. There is also content he created for Requiem of Spies (which was one of the first mods ever created for Resident Evil 2) and various other older things, that have since vanished either to expired links, or thanks to site changes etc. If you can find these though then by all means check them out!
And a big thanks to -Rusty- himself for producing this content, he has a nack for emulating skins/textures that are similar to Capcom back in the 90's so all his custom content has that 90's charm we all know and love.

Lions, Tigers and zombies that can climb....oh my o.o
So something that I saw recently, while looking through Modder Martin Biohazard's Youtube was this new experiment/test/mod he uploaded. Zombies that can now climb and jump down....was bad enough when we were stuck in rooms with them, now they can climb?! Just goes to show how awesome this community is when stuff is tested to see what can and cannot be done.

Modder Profile: Darkspyda 04
We start the first modder profile with user/mod creator Darkspyda 04. He is well known on the modding forums, and has created quite a few unique mods that he has released. Below we will see these:
Siran Asher
Siran Asher is based off of my TESIV: Oblivion unique character that I created when testing mods. She looked a lot like a fairy tale princess and was supported by two AI companions. I now call that version "fantasy Siran". In RE2 she is a kid in the 90s always doing things she likes, like going on swing sets and playing the gameboy, and splashing in puddles. She just likes to have fun. Que Pokemon Red music.
Type-B X-Soldier
The X-soldier I came up with when I was in middle school and was inspired by video games and cartoons; most likely sources were DBZ and Resident Evil. I always thought the monsters with claws from Resident Evil were the coolest, so I started drawing these guys. Violet scale-covered body, black claws, a stub-like head, and a tail. More-so they are like remarkably intelligent, they are super fast, and amazingly agile, especially in ultra mode - where the chest opens at the X-symbol and the power crystal is revealed, and then they become really tough. The Type-B is an adult and the Type-A is a child X-soldier.
Type-A X-Soldier
Replaces zombie dogs; has a special player kill animation that works only on female characters, including Siran. The lil' bastard jumps up on you, slices your throat, jumps off, and donkey kicks you into oblivion.
Cybergatorman
Cybegatorman is mans best friend. He's great to invite to parties and he'll carry all your stuff. He just wants a little love.
Main Hall Diorama
The main hall diorama is a Room 200 mod which makes the game impossible to progress past the main hall during a playthrough, but it is a cool place to visit. Includes a working climbable tower and many sights to see, including cardboard Nemesis and various battle scenes using many different mods.
Santa Claus Mr X
Link to mod: http://www.mediafire.com/file/sdp7s85e2zef5s1/Jolly_Boots_RE2.zip/file
This one I won a contest at Capcom-Unity and impressed a lot of friends at game development class. People love this mod and it was such a simple idea XD one of the first mods that I did.
And one more unique mod:
I even made a mod of my big brother but is exclusive to the abandoned Yacht Project. This one I painted the face using the 3D tool in Photoshop, and had plenty of reference pictures of my brother to make sure that I got the details right, except for the ears. I explicitly asked for his permission first.
That folks is the first profile complete, and as you can see there is a lot of creativity involved in the old school modding community. Hopefully this has perked a few people's interest ;) and major kudos to Darkspyda for creating these mods!
